    About Me:

I live in St. Louis with my husband Dale and my daughter.  Maggie is fifteen-years-old and is a sophomore at Ursuline Academy in St. Louis, MO.  In 1990, I graduated with a Middle School major from Illinois State University and began teaching for Columbia that fall.   I have had some great experiences as a teacher that include earning a certificate in digital publishing from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2006, working with the Saint Louis Art Museum on a teacher’s guide, and earning a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration in December 2009.  The greatest experience is watching young artists grow and achieve each year.

I feel strongly that your child is fortunate to attend a school district that places value on the arts.  Certified art teachers from second grade through high school allow us to implement a discipline-based art program where concepts and skills are taught through a sequential course of study. My personal teaching philosophy focuses on the process over the end product.  Students are not evaluated solely on the outcome of their projects, but on the skills they mastered along the way.  I firmly believe that EVERY child can master the skills that are taught at CMS.  Please support your child by rethinking the idea that artistic success is based on talent alone:  some of us have worked very hard to become the artists that we are!
