     About Me:

My name is Kelly Briesacher, and I teach English here at Columbia High School.  I have been teaching at Columbia since 2013, and I love it here!  Previously, I taught at Francis Howell Central High School for nine years!  In past years, I taught: English I, English II, English III, Speech I, Debate, the Novel, and Success class. I've coached cheer squads and speech teams; I've written multiple curricula; and I've helped write numerous common assessments.  Additionally, in the summer of 2017, I attended an intense, week long Advanced Placement summer institute.  I hope that my experiences make for a fun and engaging year in English Class!  I am looking forward to a great year!

In terms of my own education, I attended Southeast Missouri State University, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education English.  Part of the reason why I love teaching English is because I love helping students find a joy in reading; this is why I went back to school to earn a master’s degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia where I studied Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Literacy.

I am a Google Classroom teacher; this means that I post all homework assignments and announcements online.  If you are interested in being invited to view your student's account, please email me and let me know.  I firmly believe that the key to a successful student is a partnership between home and school.

Please also review my management guide as a way to understand my role as your child’s teacher, my expectations in the classroom, and my hopes for helping your child meet with success in my classroom.

hope that you will communicate your concerns, thoughts, and excitement with me throughout the year.  I am looking forward to a great year!
