• Welcome to Art 2018-19!!!

Hello, my Parkview family, I cannot wait to begin this creative journey with all of you!  I am incredibly excited to get to know everyone and to watch and help students as they grow throughout the year.  I was lucky enough to spend some time with a lot of the students last spring and am over the moon about coming back as the permanent Arteacher!!!  I love sharing my passion for the arts, introducing elements and principles of design, along with integrating significant subjects including art history and most of all, helping students to think outside the box while believing in themselves.

    A little bit about me-

My name is Laura Oberkfell, I have a wonderful husband and two amazing children who are my world!  I graduated "a few" :) years ago form Columbia High School and love to be back in this remarkable ever-changing school community!  I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Webster University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Fontbonne University along with my Art Certification K-12.  I worked as an artist and Cosmetologist before attending Graduate school.  After working at a unique Independent school in Saint Louis, I stayed home with my boys while showing and selling art when possible.  I adore school and continue to grow and learn as much as I can.  This summer, I completed a course, Foundations of Reading Instruction at Fontbonne University and attended the Art of Education Conference.  Education is imperative, but I believe I learn the most while working with students.  Being a working artist also allows me to bring real world experience into my classroom which is extraordinarily beneficial.

Get ready for some mind-blowing artwork to come your way and never forget the process trumps the final product, but there is beauty in all art!;)

I am truly looking forward to meeting you,

    Laura Oberkfell
